Biodiversity Partnership Joint Call 2025 is open

Biodiversa+ – the European Biodiversity Partnership – is pleased to announce that its BiodivTransform Call for Transnational Research Proposals on “Restoration of ecosystem functioning, integrity and connectivity – BiodivConnect” is now open. Deadline for pre-proposals submission is 7 November 2025, 12:00 CET.

This Call aims at supporting research and innovation projects to identify, analyse, and comprehend transformation processes that may halt and reverse biodiversity decline.

The scope of the call:

  • This call is focused on fostering innovative research to be integrated into nature restoration practices for interconnected and well-functioning ecosystems and habitats, with special consideration for long-term sustainability and future-proofing of restoration efforts, at scales from local to regional to cross-border and global, including their evaluation. The call covers restoration efforts for biodiversity in all types of ecosystems and habitats, in all regions of the world, supporting high-quality research and innovation projects on biodiversity and ecosystem restoration with holistic, systemic, and integrated approaches.

The call will cover transnational, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and cross-sectoral research on restoration of ecosystems in all parts of the world. All environments (i.e. terrestrial, marine, coastal, and freshwater) will be eligible. However, for Czech Applicants to be eligible, results of the project must be applicable in the environment of the Czech Republic (Applicability of foreseen project outputs and their employment in the conditions of the Czech Republic will be assessed during the national eligibility check).

The rules of the call for Czech applicants are based on the SIGMA programme. The total financial amount of TA CR support for the call for Czech applicants in international projects is EUR 1 000 000. The maximum financial amount of support per project is EUR 170 000. The maximum intensity of support for the Czech side of the project is 80% of the total eligible costs of the project.

To be eligible, research consortia will have to include teams from a minimum of 3 countries financially participating in the Call, including at least 2 from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries. Note that not all EU Member States or Associated Countries will financially participate in this call.
