Biodiversa+ – the European Biodiversity Partnership – is pleased to announce that its BiodivFuture Call for Transnational Research Proposals on “Novel ecosystems: biodiversity, socio-ecological consequences and future trajectories – BiodivFuture” is now open. Deadline for pre-proposals submission is 10 November 2026, 12:00 CET.
This Call aims at supporting research and innovation projects to identify, analyse, and comprehend transformation processes that may halt and reverse biodiversity decline.
The scope of the call:
- BiodivFuture focuses on supporting future-looking research and innovation that will address biodiversity and novel ecosystems, as well as their socio-ecological dynamics and consequences relating to the sustainability goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and associated future pathways and trajectories of change. The call covers investigating the causes (drivers), effects (biological responses), and outcomes (including opportunities, risks and trade-offs) of current and future trajectories of change in all relevant realms (terrestrial, freshwater, marine and coastal areas), in all regions of the world. It aims at funding novel, high-quality transnational research with potential for societal and political impact that will significantly improve our understanding of novel ecosystems with holistic, systemic, and integrated approaches.
The call will investigate the causes (drivers), effects (biological responses), and outcomes (including opportunities, risks and trade-offs) of current and future trajectories of change in all relevant realms (terrestrial, freshwater, marine and coastal areas), in all regions of the world. All environments (i.e. terrestrial, marine, coastal, and freshwater) will be eligible. However, for Czech Applicants to be eligible, results of the project must be applicable in the environment of the Czech Republic (Applicability of foreseen project outputs and their employment in the conditions of the Czech Republic will be assessed during the national eligibility check).
The rules of the call for Czech applicants are based on the SIGMA programme. The total financial amount of TA CR support for the call for Czech applicants in international projects is EUR 1 000 000. The maximum financial amount of support per project is EUR 170 000. The maximum intensity of support for the Czech side of the project is 80% of the total eligible costs of the project.
To be eligible, research consortia will have to include 3 teams from a minimum of 3 countries financially participating in the Call, including at least 2 from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries. Note that not all EU Member States or Associated Countries will financially participate in this call.
